Amanda jozaitis: July 6
Amanda Jozaitis is an artist and graphic designer from La Porte IN. She graduated from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design in 2009. She draws and paints buildings, maps, landscapes found locally, through travel, and from memory. She adds geometric and natural elements to create imaginative places of beauty and decay. She transfers her drawings to screens and uses screen printing to build layers and to create a study of art, design, composition, and narrative. The repetitive process of repeated imagery through screen printing, allows her to experiment with composition and narrative, making each piece unique. When she is not creating art, she designs for Region Design Co., a local screen-printing company, that prints La Porte-inspired t-shirts.
Bonnie Zeller: July 20
Bonnie Zeller was born and raised in La Porte, attended Lincoln Elementary School, Central Junior High, and graduated from La Porte High School class of '62. Her father, local artist Ken Piper, was best known for his pen and ink drawings of historic buildings and landmarks in La Porte and surrounding areas. Zeller learned perspective and lighting techniques from him. Her mother, a crewel artist, taught Zeller color and design along with the "fun" part of being creative. Now retired from Children's Services through the La Porte County Library, she lets her imagination run free through creating cut-paper art. Through this media she can tell a story, rekindle a memory, or inspire a thought.
